Four Enchanting African Destinations
posted in Calforex Blog, Homepage, Travel and Events
Tanzania
Tanzania is an East African country famous for its vast wilderness areas, mount Kilimanjaro and breathtaking safaris.
Our recommendations:
- Top safari destinations
- Serengeti
- Ngorongoro
- Manyara
- Tarangire
- Ruaha
- Selous
- Climb Kilimanjaro via the Lemosho route. Lemosho is often considered the most beautiful route on Kilimanjaro. This route is a tourist favourite because it offers an outstanding balance of low traffic, scenic views and a high summit success rate.
- Zanzibar is a UNESCO World Heritage site that sits 35km off the coast of Tanzania. Zanzibar offers beautiful beaches and tropical waters and some of the best diving waters in the world, plus vast wildlife, including the famous giant tortoises.
Botswana
Botswana is a landlocked nation positioned in the centre of southern Africa. Botswana is a primarily flat nation, with the majority of its territory occupied by the Kalahari Desert.
Our recommendations :
- Maun is the entry point to the Okavango Delta, the “jewel” of the Kalahari desert. The Okavango Delta wetland has the highest density of wildlife on the entire African continent, meaning that you are bound to see a diverse range of beautiful animals!
- The Chobe national park is also situated in the north of Botswana; Chobe has the largest population of wild elephants in Africa and has the accolade of Botswana’s first national park. If you’re in the Chobe national park area, we would advise visiting Victoria Falls, despite the fact it’s not technically Botswana; this experience isn’t one to miss if you’re in that region of the world.

Egypt
Egypt has one of the longest histories of all countries globally, with historical artifacts running back to the ancient Egyptian era.
Our recommendations:
- Spend time in the thriving city of Cairo and learn about Egyptian history through the Egyptian museum and by visiting the great pyramids!
- Luxor is an ancient city of Egypt that sits on the east bank of the river Nile. Often renowned as the world’s best open-air museum, Luxor is a great place to embrace ancient Egyptian history. Three must-sees are:
- Cross the river and see the Valley of the Kings & Queens
- The temple of Karnak consists of ruins with over 200 structures.
- The graceful temple of Luxor.
- Visit Aswan & Abu Simbel temples in the south.
The Seychelles
The Seychelles are located in the Somali Sea segment of the Indian Ocean about 1,600 km east of Kenya. It’s home to numerous beaches, coral reefs and nature reserves, as well as rare animals such as giant Aldabra tortoises. There are three principal Islands in Seychelles, namely Mahe, Praslin and La Digue; all offer splendid beach experiences with a wide range of unique activities.
Mahe
Mahe, measuring 28km long by 8km wide, is the largest of the two and home to most of the country’s population. Mahe is the central hub where the capital, Victoria, is located. It is generally accepted that the Seychelle’s significant attractions lie on the other islands; however, Mahe is still breathtakingly beautiful in its own right.
- Port Launay – ideal for snorkelling right off the beach
- visit both Beau Vallon bay & the capital city Victoria
- Snorkel around Ste. Anne Marine National Park and see the wildlife that lives below.
- Mahe is home to plenty of scuba diving schools, ideal for first-timers or regulars.
Praslin
Praslin is the second-largest island in the Seychelles, with a permanent population of around 8000. It’s home to some of the most beautiful beaches globally, and its slow pace of life makes it the perfect destination for unwinding.
- Visit Vallee de Mai and see the unique Coco de Mer coconuts.
- Relax on Anse Lazio beach, commonly thought to be the best beach in the world!
La Digue
La Digue is the fourth largest island in the Seychelles, for an island of area 10km^2 ideal for hiking, its packed full of character, picturesque white beaches, beautiful forests and breathtaking reefs. The pace of life is ideal for those looking to escape the “rat race.”
- Relax on Anse Source d’Argent beach
- Scuba dive/snorkel the many reefs of la Digue.
- Due to its tiny stature, cycling around is the most accessible mode of transport.
